Gondolas

Acampo Machine Works is the original designer of the 6-ton double axle grape gondola. We've been building these gondolas for over 25 years with our very first units still in service. Gondolas are normally built as a two- axle unit but can be built with a single axle. We use the heaviest 8000 lb. spindles with 1/2" plate rim centers and multiple ply skid steer loader tires. This allows you to spin the gondolas under full load on pavement without any problems with the rims, axles, or tires. There is a single set of remotes that brings out the outriggers and dumps the load. This makes hooking up to any tractor easy and the operation is extremely simple for the drivers. Lifting cylinders are made with oversized chrome rods for a much longer life span than the standard cylinder rods others will try to use.

Units can be ordered with a 10- gauge mild steel painted tank or with a 10-gauge stainless steel tank. Our tanks are all set for 6 tons. This allows the operators to easily count the 4 dumps required to fill a standard 24 ton truck. With its low center of gravity, the gondola can handle most side hill harvesting. For severe side hill we have a 3 ton side option. You can remove the side of this tank to cut the capacity from 6 tons down to 3 tons. We also have a spread tire option so you can adjust the width of your tires to help stabilize the gondola on severe side hills. Weight cell systems with digital tractor readouts are available for all our tank models.
